Application Instructions

Saint Elizabeth University's Dietetic Internship Program is a combined M.S. in Nutrition/Dietetic Internship Program that participates in the Dietetics Inclusive Centralized Application System (DICAS).

The program also participates in the D&D Digital computer match process for the April match date.

Applicants to the Dietetic Internship Program are therefore applying to both the Dietetic Internship Program and the M.S. in Nutrition. Applicants matched to the Combined M.S. in Nutrition/Dietetic Internship will complete additional University application requirements upon acceptance of the position in the program.

Two-Step Application Process

Step One: Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System (DICAS)

The program is using the online centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be accessed at https://dicas.liaisoncas.com; email DICASinfo@DICAS.org.

The online application must be completed for our program by 11:59 pm Central Time on February 15 for the April match. Applicants are responsible for any fees charged by DICAS.

General DICAS information:

  • Application:

Background information about you and your experiences.
  • Personal Statement:

Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement in 1,000 words or less. Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:
    • Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
    • What are some experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career?
    • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
    • What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
  • Curriculum Vita (Resume):

This will be used in addition to the application to assess prior work and volunteer experiences.
  • Transcripts:

Official Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended should be sent to:

    DICAS - Transcript Dept.
    PO Box 9118
    Watertown, Ma 02472

Students with international degrees should contact DICAS for specific instructions.

If matched to SEU, you will be required to have a final transcript with degree noted mailed directly to the SEU Dietetic Internship Director.
  • References (Recommendations):

When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an email address) for each reference; three are required for our program. This will trigger an email message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online. Students must choose which letters are sent to which internship sites.
  • Verification/Intent to Complete:

Discuss this with your DPD Director. It is their responsibility to submit this information online. If matched to the program, you must supply a Verification Statement to SEU before starting the program.

Step Two: D&D Digital – Computer Match

  • Computer Match:

Applicants must also register online for computer matching and select dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15 for April match. Applicants are responsible for any fees for the D&D Digital. Register at www.dnddigital.com.
  • Match Codes:

The combined SEU MS/DI program has up to 18 full-time positions with match code 418 for the Entrepreneurial Nutrition Practice Concentration and up to 18 full-time positions with match code 134 for April Match for the Community and Public Health Nutrition Concentration.

Regardless of the strength of the application, applications cannot be considered unless both steps are completed by the deadlines outlined! SEU is not responsible for the fees charged by DICAS or D&D Digital or changes in them. It is the student's responsibility to verify DICAS and D&D Digital instructions and costs.

Please contact Theresa O'Reilly, MS, RDN with questions via email at toreilly@steu.edu or by phone at (973) 290-4126.

Program Openings and Second Round Match

In the event that we do not match a full class during the D&D Digital Matching Process in April, we will offer open positions to those who have already applied to the combined MS/DI Program at SEU. Open positions are offered to unmatched students in rank order based on the Selection Committee's ranking.

If open positions still exist after this process, the program will follow the second round match process and accept new applications. Contact the DI Director regarding the possibility of openings. At that time, you may submit an application through DICAS.

Openings may occur after these processes as a result of matched/accepted students dropping out of the program. In this event, the program faculty will give priority acceptance to qualified Saint Elizabeth University students and then additional applicants.

DI Policy for Direct Admit into Dietetic Internship Pending Vacancies

The SEU Dietetic Internship reserves the right to fill any post-match openings with applicants who already hold a master’s degree (in any area) either completed in the United States, or if completed outside of the U.S., evaluated by a recognized third-party evaluation vendor as being the equivalent of a U.S. masters degree. All applicants must also hold a DPD Verification Statement. Applicants may be conditionally accepted prior to completion of DPD Verification Statement and master’s degree, but both must be completed by the start of the Dietetic Internship. Recency of education will be assessed by faculty, which may result in additional required coursework to be completed by the applicant before or during supervised practice. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the Dietetic Internship Director for more information and will be required to submit:

Qualified applicants will be required to provide apply through DICAS and D&D Digital by February 15th and submit the same required documents as all other students (see “Application Instructions”).
