Items for Checkout

Books

Most of Mahoney Library's book collection is housed online in ebook format. However, we have retained a small collection of physical books in the Religion and Literature genres on the second floor.

Please see our interlibrary loan page for more information on how to borrow print books outside of Mahoney Library's collection.

Laptops for the Semester

Laptops are available for borrowing through the library for up to the length of the current semester. These laptops will be due back to the library at the end of the semester (regardless of when they were checked out). Failure to return a checked-out laptop will result in a fine of $1000.00.

Students wishing to check out a laptop must have an SEU ID and be entered into the library management system. Once the student is registered in the library system, they will then have to fill out a form. After that, the laptop will be loaned out and students will be responsible for the item's safety as well as responsible for returning it on time.

In-Library Use Only

Course Reserves

Faculty may request that specific books, articles, or other media (usually required or supplemental course reading material) be available on a reserve basis, meaning that the borrowing period is limited so that many students can view the material within a short period of time. Course reserves can only be checked out for either 2 hours or overnight (depending on what the professor has set), and can only be renewed at the circulation desk if no other students are waiting for the item. Course reserves are available on the main floor at the Circulation Desk.

Reserve Laptops

The library has special laptops in the reserve collection as well as the semester-long laptops. This means that students, staff, and faculty who have a SEU ID and are in the library management system can check laptops out for use. They must remain in Mahoney Library or the Student Success Center (A or B Wing), and have a two (2) hour time limit due to battery restrictions.
