Saint Elizabeth University Responds to Study by Students for Life of America
September 18, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Morristown, NJ – (September 18, 2024) – Saint Elizabeth University is aware of the recent study conducted by the pro-life group Students for Life of America, which listed our institution as having "some type of relationship with the abortion industry.”
Saint Elizabeth University’s mission is grounded in the sanctity of human life and dignity, and we endeavor to foster an environment that reflects these values in all aspects of our educational and community engagement.
We acknowledge that the study's findings stem from the actions of a staff member who acted with erroneous information regarding the aims and purposes of an agency that violates the protection of life while providing some valid healthcare services as well. Although the intention was to support our students, we recognize that this may have unintentionally suggested a relationship with an organization that do not align with our values.
“Our commitment is to the mission of the University, and the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church, is paramount,” said Gary B. Crosby, Ph.D., president of SEU. “Any association with organizations that contradict our mission is unacceptable, and we will ensure that all resources reflect our core values and commitments.”
In response to this situation, Saint Elizabeth University has taken immediate actions to rectify the matter and prevent such occurrences in the future. “The University will continue to foster an environment that reflects our faith and ensures that all resources provided to our community align with our mission,” said Fr. Joseph Farias, chaplain and advisor to the president for mission integration.
Saint Elizabeth University remains dedicated to creating a supportive, faith-centered educational environment grounded in respect for life and the dignity of all individuals.
