The Center for Ministry and Spirituality offers ongoing opportunities for the spiritual and theological formation of the laity. Its programs are open to everyone, and the personal and ministerial development of laity in the Church is its special focus.

The goal of the Center is to share the richness of the Catholic Christian tradition with others so that they can use Gospel values to create a hope-filled future for the Church and society.

The Center has a special commitment to developing skills for ministry in multicultural settings and providing opportunities for inter-religious dialogue through its annual convocations and summer institutes, in addition to various workshops and on-campus events.

Center History

The Sisters of Charity founded Saint Elizabeth University at the end of the 19th century, realizing the growing need to provide for the higher education of women in New Jersey.

It is in this environment of high academic standards, talented faculty, and rich traditions created by the University, that the Center for Ministry and Spirituality has become an effective training ground for providing outstanding theological and spirituality programs for the general public and effective training for lay ministry formation. There is an unmistakable synergy between the Center for Ministry and Spirituality and Saint Elizabeth University in their joint mission as a community of learning dedicated to the development of leaders in a spirit of service and social responsibility.
