Richard Quinlan, Ph.D.
Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Rich Quinlan spent twenty-six years as a
classroom teacher. After graduating from Franklin and Marshall College as an English
major, Rich has earned three master’s degrees in Secondary English education, Political
Science, and History from Long Island University, Post Campus. In 2019, Rich joined
the staff of Mercy College in the Bronx, New York as adjunct professor of both American
and Modern European history. He is also a contributor to Airwars.org, a London-based
NGO that reports upon civilian deaths in war zones around the world, along with the
Human Rights Research Center. Rich graduated in August 2021 with a Ph.D. in Holocaust
and Genocide Studies from Gratz College in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. His dissertation
addressed the need for transitional justice and reconciliation in post-genocide Burundi.
His personal and professional life was transformed by his participation in the summer
of 2015 with the fortunate involvement with the Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Teachers
Program organized through the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their
Descendants. Rich was one of twenty-four teachers selected from across the United
States to spend two weeks touring Germany and Poland, gaining a greater understanding
of the causes, implementation, and lasting ramifications of the Holocaust. It motivated
him to commit myself to the study of the Holocaust and working to prevent future atrocities.
