Learn How Assistant Professor and Director of Speech-Language Pathology Kim Sabourin Power’s Her PossibleMorristown, N.J., August 5, 2024Kim Sabourin has served as Assistant Professor and Director of Speech-Language Pathology at Saint Elizabeth University since January 2023. 

Kim holds a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maryland and is highly regarded in the SEU community for founding the Speech-Language Pathology program, a first of its kind here at the University. 

Kim has an extensive background in academia and clinical training, having served as a clinical professor for over 20 years. She spent 18 years at Temple University as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical Instructor, and Clinical Supervisor, and also taught courses at the University of Maryland in Communication Science and Disorders. Throughout her career, she has trained numerous young professionals entering the field of Speech-Language Pathology. Kim specializes in stuttering and stuttering treatment, and she is actively involved in research projects in this area. In her role, she educates and mentors students on careers in Speech-Language Pathology and teaches online courses in speech and language development.

Reflecting on her journey, Kim attributes her success to both her inner drive and the support of others. “What powers my possible is perseverance, the determination to show up and believe in my ability to achieve whatever I set my mind to. Additionally, having mentors who inspired and motivated me has significantly contributed to my mission. ” Kim says. With this foundation, she now aims to pay it forward.“I really hope to be that mentor and support for young scholars who may be new to or continuing their education. I aim to give back to my community by helping students develop into a career that they can find just as rewarding and exciting as I have.” Kim shares. 

Outside of her professional pursuits, Kim enjoys a variety of hobbies in fitness and healthcare. She is a Zumba instructor, running a class on Sunday mornings, and maintains a regular yoga practice. Kim is well-known for her love of Disney, visiting annually with her family, and she is an avid Broadway fan, attending shows whenever she can.
