Saint Elizabeth University is excited to offer an incredible Social Emotional Learning
(SEL) day camp experience for neurodivergent learners ages 7-13. TAP IN to SEL is
a 5-day camp that will utilize the CASEL framework to guide our learners in finding
out what SEL is and how it can transform their lives! Speech Language Pathology graduate
students will lead daily small group workshops where campers will embark on their
SEL journey!
Each day campers will be introduced to a new competency and will learn how it impacts
their daily lives and can have an effect on their challenges and successes. They will
have the amazing opportunity to meet with a mentor who has harnessed their own unique
neurodivergence through SEL work and used it as fuel to succeed in monumentous ways.
Students will dive into hands-on experiential social-emotional learning activities
that foster receptive and expressive language growth, communication, and real-life
lasting bonds and friendships. These activities include positive affirmations, planting,
reflective journaling, and motivational exercises. This work promotes emotional identification,
self-regulation, self-advocacy, abstract language competency, fosters relationship
skills, and brings awareness to responsible decision making.
