- As entrepreneurs in private practice – areas such as integrative nutrition and wellness, diabetes, eating disorders and as lactation consultants.
- In successful careers in the food industry – as product and regulatory specialists and sensory analysts. Past graduates are now working in the cosmetic industry, adult nutrition-pharmaceuticals, as well as veterinary pharmaceutical sales.
- Graduates have also pursued medical careers for Physician Assistant, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Acupuncture.
Why SEU UG in Foods and Nutrition?
We offer a recently renovated and upgraded foods laboratory along with contemporary
science facilities, including a new state-of-the-art interprofessional simulation
lab. This provides an academic atmosphere for learning that promotes interaction among
faculty and students from other science and healthcare disciplines.
Driven by an institutional mission focused on teaching excellence, we have award-winning
faculty who have been honored by fellow educators of the Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics (AND), an accomplished textbook author and editor, and a faculty member
who completed fellowship training at the distinguished Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania.
We also prize our award-winning students. A SEU Nutrition and Dietetics senior has
been the recipient of the annual NJ AND Outstanding Student Award in the DPD category
for ten of the past 13 years!
Our small class size allows for personalized learning, but more importantly we emphasize
student collaboration and engagement through project-based learning and faculty-guided
field experiences. Many of our FN graduates identify our learning environment, and
the quality of our curriculum, as important components of their post-graduate success.
So how are we doing? Our three-year program data survey says it all. Nearly 90% of
FN graduates rated our program highly for overall teaching and quality of academic
advising. In fact, nearly 70% of graduates provided a rating of excellence for faculty
mentoring.
We welcome traditional-aged students, as well as continuing studies students who may
be transferring to earn a first degree or who are seeking a second degree. Course
offerings for the undergraduate program are primarily offered during the day with
a few evening courses.
If you are returning to school or considering transferring courses, please consult
our community college crosswalk for chemistry.
