MS/DI Program Overview

About the MS/DI

The combined Master’s in Nutrition/Dietetic Internship Program (MS/DI) is earned with 38 credits. Accepted students complete 20 hours of online MS in Nutrition coursework prior to completing 18 credits of Dietetic Internship (DI) program-specific coursework, which includes a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised practice.

Students who successfully complete the program receive a Master of Science in Nutrition and a verification statement of program completion. They are then eligible to take the National Registration Examination for Dietitians (RD/RDN).

For successful completion, students must maintain a B average in the master’s portion of the program. In addition, students will receive an academic warning if a "C/C+" grade is earned in any one course. Two “C/C+" grades will place the student in suspension and the student will not be able to earn the Verification and may not be able to complete the master’s program.

The program is approved for up to 36 positions. Up to eighteen (18) positions in the Entrepreneurial Nutrition Practice Concentration (ENP) and up to eighteen (18) positions in the Community and Public Health Nutrition Concentration (CPHN) are available and students matched to it start the program in August/Fall semester.

Students may apply to one or both concentrations; the concentration is assigned based on the match. All positions are full-time, and students are matched to a specific concentration. The program participates in second round match if positions are not filled. The University offers a pre-select option for our own Foods and Nutrition majors which may impact the total number of available positions in the program.

To apply, students must complete a DICAS application and register with and rank the appropriate program code with D&D Digital. Student must also pay the fees associated with each step of the application process (DICAS, D&D and the Combined MS/DI Application fee).
