Requirements

Freshman Year

Fall Semester

  • Introduction of the SEU Promise Program during orientation.
  • Complete SEU Connects profile during class and as an assignment for that class create/update your resume and submit to SEU Connects Moodle. One workshop will be offered throughout the semester for students who were not able to attend the class.
  • Attend the Eagles Fair, and complete and submit the assignment to Moodle.
  • Take a professional self-assessment FOCUS 2 in class. If the students need more information and/or further clarification they need to meet with a member of ELC.

Spring Semester

  • Attend two B2B workshops during the semester.
  • Meet with a representative of the ELC office.
  • Pick up your agreement at the ELC office at the end of the semester. The verification log will be tracked via Moodle.
  • Complete the first year with a 2.75 GPA.

Sophomore Year

Fall Semester

  • Touch base with your Career Advisor to identify careers that align with your interests and goals and update resume.
  • Each semester, attend two ELC workshops on networking and professional dress, including Eagles Fair.
  • Join at least one student organization or sports team.

Spring Semester

  • Complete a LinkedIn profile with the assistance of the ELC team.
  • Become a mentee in the mentoring program.
  • Eligible to enroll in the leadership course.
  • Complete the year with a 3.0 GPA

Junior Year

Fall Semester

  • Complete the required Element III course and service learning lab (SEU 300/310) in the first semester of junior year.
  • In preparation for the internship placement, meet with the Internship Coordinator to utilize Big Interview and practice interview skills.
  • Attend the Fall Eagles Fair to meet employers and submit your resume for internships.
  • In conjunction with the Element IV General Education Capstone (SEU400) in which a capstone showcase ePortfolio is created that includes the formulation of a Purpose Statement, construction of a resume, and content about professionalism, personal branding, public speaking, and career preparation. Furthermore:
     
    • Participate in the leadership workshop series, Seeking Success, which will include topics on: professionalism, personal branding, public speaking, and career preparation. Participants must submit an application and a resume.
    • Cultivate leadership competencies, including public speaking and interview skills
    • Create a strong professional brand
    • Apply and articulate transferable skills to attain a position or job

Spring Semester

  • Utilize SEU Connects to collect information on employers, internships/co-ops, fellowships and jobs.
  • Obtain an internship placement for one semester and complete at least 90 hours.
  • Begin the grad school application process if attending - go to workshops and standardized test strategy sessions.
  • Complete the year with a 3.3 GPA.
  • In conjunction with the Element IV General Education Capstone (SEU400) in which a capstone showcase ePortfolio is created that includes the formulation of a Purpose Statement, construction of a resume, and content about professionalism, personal branding, public speaking, and career preparation. Furthermore:

Senior Year

Fall Semester

  • Schedule twice-a-semester meetings with your Career Advisor to create a job search plan with goals and timelines.
  • Refine your resume to include internships/co-ops, leadership roles, community service and more.
  • Attend an ELC workshop on interviewing and professionalism.
  • Attend the Eagles Fair to meet employers and submit your resume for jobs.
  • In conjunction with the Element IV General Education Capstone (SEU400) in which a capstone showcase ePortfolio is created that includes the formulation of a Purpose Statement, construction of a resume, and content about professionalism, personal branding, public speaking, and career preparation. Furthermore:

  • Draft a cover letter that can be revised for various employers and job opportunities.
  • Update your profile on SEU Connects and LinkedIn and actively apply for jobs.
  • Complete the year with a 3.5 GPA.
  • Evaluate and respond to job offers and graduate school acceptances.
