Accessibility Services
Eligibility for Accessibility Services at Saint Elizabeth University is dependent upon the nature of the disability and its impact on learning.
The definition of what constitutes a disability is outlined by Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act (2008) and in accordance with Section 504 of of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998. The Office of Accessibility Services will make a decision regarding accommodations based on the ADA AA (2008) guidelines, the student’s own account of how their disability affects their learning, alongside supporting documentation.
One of the reasons that SEU has developed these guidelines is to ensure consistency throughout the institution. These guidelines are consistent with those used by agencies administering standardized assessments (see Compliance Statement).
The ultimate decision for eligibility on campus is a judgment that must be made by the Coordinator of Accessibility Services based upon the guidelines developed for each type of disability according to the ADA AA (2008).
